Wise Fees 2026: Transfer, Card and Business Account Costs
Wise fees in 2026: conversions from 0.23%, a $9 card, free ATM withdrawals to $250 a month, a $31 business setup fee, and what $1,000 to $50,000 costs to send.

Wise charges no monthly fee: you pay a conversion fee from 0.23% when you change currency, plus a cost that depends on how you fund the transfer. Sending $1,000 to euros costs $5.47 funded by ACH, $9.87 by wire and $55.92 by Visa credit card. The card is $9 to order, ATM withdrawals are free up to $250 a month, and Wise Business costs a one-time $31 to set up.
Every fee on this page was read on Wise's US pricing page, its card fees page and its business pricing page in October 2026. Transfer totals come from the fee calculator on Wise's US site for a US personal account sending dollars to a euro bank account. The verdict on Wise as a product is in our Wise review; this page is the fee schedule and what it costs at stated amounts.
Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, evaluated 191 payment processing tools for its payment processing ranking as of October 2026, and its data lists Wise as an alternative to 26 of them, joint 12th in that category. That makes Wise one of the most cross-shopped names when a buyer compares ways to move money.

Wise makes money on conversions, not on the account. Holding, receiving domestic payments and spending a currency you already hold are free, so a customer who keeps dollars in a dollar balance and spends them in dollars pays nothing. The fee starts the moment money changes currency or arrives over an expensive rail.
What it costs to send money abroad
The total Wise charges on a transfer has two parts. The first is the conversion fee, which varies by currency pair: 0.29% from dollars to euros on our check, under the "from 0.23%" headline that applies to the cheapest pairs. The second is the cost of the way you pay Wise, and that part swings the total far more than the currency does.
| Sending dollars to a euro bank account | $1,000 | $10,000 | $50,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| From your Wise dollar balance | $3.42 | $29.44 | $120.30 |
| Funded by ACH from a US bank | $5.47 | $46.68 | $205.16 |
| Funded by wire from a US bank | $9.87 | $35.90 | $126.76 |
| Funded by debit card | $16.05 | $152.53 | $735.31 |
| Funded by Visa credit card | $55.92 | $551.72 | $2,734.21 |
On a $1,000 transfer, the ACH route costs 0.55% in total and the credit card route 5.59%. The difference is the pay-in cost: ACH adds 0.17 percentage points to the conversion fee, a debit card about 1.25 points and a Visa credit card about 5.5 points. Your card issuer may add its own charges, which Wise's quote does not include.
The wire column turns the logic around at larger amounts. A wire carries a $7 flat fee but only the 0.29% conversion fee, while ACH carries $0.89 flat plus 0.46%. By our arithmetic, a wire becomes cheaper than ACH at about $3,600 for a euro transfer. Your own bank's outgoing wire fee sits on top and is not part of Wise's quote, so check it before you switch.
The $50,000 column shows the volume discount at work. The conversion share falls from 0.29% to 0.24%, which saves about $25 on that transfer against the smaller-amount rate. Wise applies lower prices to big conversions automatically; you do not need a plan or a call to get them.
Other currencies cost a little more than euros. Funded by ACH, $1,000 costs $5.89 to send to pounds, $6.85 to Indian rupees and $7.67 to Mexican pesos in Wise's calculator, because each pair carries its own conversion fee. Paying from a dollar balance you already hold is the cheapest option on every pair.
Receiving money: free unless it arrives by Swift
Getting paid in your Wise account is free when the sender uses a local rail. Personal accounts get account details in 22 currencies at no cost, and domestic payments in AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, HUF, NZD, PHP, SGD and USD arrive free. A US freelancer with a European client gets a euro account number, and the client pays it like any domestic transfer.
Swift and wire payments carry a fixed fee per payment: $6.11 for a USD wire, 2.16 GBP for a pound Swift payment, charged in pounds, and 2.39 EUR for a euro Swift payment, charged in euros. Nineteen other currencies have their own Swift receiving fees on a separate help page. Ask clients to use the local account details instead of Swift wherever possible, because the local route costs nothing.
Converting what you receive is where the fee lands. A $10,000 euro invoice received for free still costs the conversion fee when you move it into dollars. The Wise vs Payoneer comparison prices that full collection cycle against Payoneer for a small business invoicing in euros.
Card fees: cheap to spend, metered at the ATM
The Wise Multi-Currency Card has a small one-time ordering fee and no subscription. Express delivery costs from $11.58, a replacement $5, and a replacement for an expired card is free. The digital card is free, so you can start spending before the plastic arrives.
Spending is free in any currency you hold, and spending in a currency you do not hold converts at the mid-market rate with the conversion fee. Wise charges no foreign transaction fee for using the card abroad. A traveler who converts dollars to euros before the trip pays the fee once, at the same rate as a transfer.
ATMs are the line to watch. Withdrawals are free until your combined total hits the monthly allowance, then each withdrawal costs $1.95 plus 1.95%. Taking out $200 on a day when you have already passed the allowance costs $5.85 in Wise fees, before whatever the ATM operator charges. Withdraw larger amounts less often, or pay by card.
The 2% fee on topping up e-wallets catches people who load other wallets and accounts with the card. It applies to transactions Wise classifies as e-wallet top-ups in certain currencies, so funding another wallet with the card costs more than a transfer.
Wise Business: one setup fee, then pay as you go
Wise Business has no monthly fee; the only fixed cost is a one-time $31 for account details that let the business receive in 22 currencies. Registration itself is free. Wise describes that fee as unlocking every Wise Business feature at once.
The first business card is free, and each additional card for a team member is a one-time $5. Card spending, ATM and e-wallet fees match the personal account. Business transfers use the same conversion fees, and Wise offers a volume discount once a business converts more than $25,000.
The business account suits a US company that pays overseas contractors or suppliers and gets paid by foreign clients. It does not replace a US operating account with checks, cash deposits or lending; the business banking fees page and the best business bank accounts list cover that side. Founders outside the US setting up a company should read the US business bank accounts for non-residents list.
How Wise compares with banks and other apps
Wise's edge is the exchange rate, not a low headline fee. Wise uses the mid-market rate and shows its fee separately; its pricing page says other providers hide fees in the exchange rate, so a "no fee" transfer elsewhere can still cost more. Compare the amount the recipient gets, not the fee line.
Against fintech rivals, the answer depends on volume and plan. Wise vs Revolut compares the two on transfer costs and plans, and the Payoneer review covers the marketplace payout case Wise does not serve. For a ranked list of transfer options by total cost, see the cheapest ways to send money abroad.
Wise is a weaker fit for taking card payments from customers. A business selling online needs a processor, and Stripe vs PayPal fees prices that side. Mercury pricing covers a US business account that can sit beside Wise as the domestic operating account.
How to pay the least
Fund transfers by ACH under about $3,600 and by wire above it, or keep a dollar balance in Wise and send from that. Never fund a transfer with a credit card unless the speed is worth about 5% of the amount.
Receive on local account details rather than Swift, and convert in larger, less frequent batches to reach the volume discount. Keep ATM withdrawals inside the free monthly allowance, and skip the card for e-wallet top-ups.
How we computed it
We read Wise's US personal pricing, card fees and business pricing pages in October 2026, and took transfer totals from the fee calculator on Wise's US site for a US personal account sending US dollars to a euro bank account on 17 October 2026. Totals include Wise's fees only, not your bank's wire fee or any card issuer charges. The crossover amount and percentages are our arithmetic from those totals. Fees vary by currency and amount and can change, so quote your own transfer in Wise's calculator before sending.
