Found Review

What Found's plans, wire and check fees and interest cost in practice, with prices checked on Found's own pages in October 2026.

TL;DR

Short answer: Found's free plan costs nothing per month, with no minimum balance, and includes bookkeeping, tax estimates and invoicing. The real cost is outgoing wires. At four domestic wires and two paper checks a month, the Free plan costs $62 a month, while Plus costs $97 and Pro $120 on monthly billing, before interest.

Found is a financial technology company, not a bank, so deposits are insured through Lead Bank, Member FDIC. It fits a freelancer or sole proprietor who sends few wires and wants tax tools in the same app. It is a poor fit for a business that sends many wires or needs a branch.

  • Updated: October 17, 2026
  • Best for: Sole proprietors and freelancers who want free checking with bookkeeping and tax tools in one app, and send few wires.
  • Price as of October 17, 2026: Free plan, then Plus $35/mo or $315/yr and Pro $80/mo or $720/yr
  • Free business checking with bookkeeping and tax tools built in, plus interest on balances only on the paid plans.
  • Free plan: No monthly fee, no minimum balance
  • Plus APY: 1.50%, paid plan only
  • Pro APY: 2.50% on all balances, no cap
  • Charter: Fintech, not a bank. Lead Bank, Member FDIC

Pros

  • No monthly fee and no minimum balance on the free plan, with no overdraft fees, per the fee schedule.
  • Up to 20 Pockets, unlimited invoicing and real-time tax estimates are included without a subscription.
  • Plus pays 1.50% APY on a capped balance, Pro pays 2.50% APY on all balances with no cap, and checks are free on Pro.

Cons

  • Each outgoing wire costs money on Free and Plus, so four wires a month add $60 to a plan with no monthly fee.
  • The pricing page lists no APY for the free plan, and the quarterly in-app tax payment needs a paid plan and a Schedule C.
  • Found is a financial technology company, not a bank, so deposits are FDIC-insured up to $250,000 per depositor through Lead Bank.

Found is a business account that puts checking, bookkeeping, invoicing and tax estimates in one app. That pitch suits a sole proprietor or freelancer who is tired of moving receipts between a bank, a spreadsheet and a tax tool.

The buyer question is narrower: what does the account cost once wires, checks and cash deposits start to add up, and is a paid plan worth its monthly fee?

This review answers that from Found's own pricing page and published fee schedule, both read in October 2026. It sets Found against four banks and fintechs a finance lead would also shortlist, and it sits alongside our ranking of business bank accounts.

Toolradar data: of the 65 finance tools we rank, 18 (28%) have a free plan, as of October 2026, so a free plan is still the minority case in this category.

What is Found?

Found is a financial technology company, not a bank. Its pricing page says so, and its fee schedule names Lead Bank, Member FDIC, as the bank that provides the accounts. The account is open to sole proprietorships, single and multi-member LLCs, S corporations and C corporations, according to Found's home page.

The account carries no monthly maintenance fee and no minimum balance, and the fee schedule says there are no fees for opening or using it, and no overdraft fees.

The software around the account is the real product. Free customers get up to 20 Pockets (sub-accounts), team debit cards with spending limits, unlimited invoicing, expense categorization, receipt scanning, a profit and loss report, real-time tax estimates and 1099 e-filing for contractors.

The paid plans add more: unlimited category rules, imports from up to 10 other accounts, and in-app quarterly federal tax payments for customers who file a Schedule C.

How Found works

Money in is cheap, money out is where the fees sit. The fee schedule says you can transfer funds to and from the account with no charges, and receiving Instant Payments is free. Wires, paper checks, sent Instant Payments and express transfers each carry a fee, listed in the pricing details.

Cash has its own line. Found charges $2.00 for each cash deposit, and its home page says cash can be deposited at over 79k retail locations nationwide. ATM withdrawals carry no Found fee, though some ATM operators add their own charge. A dormancy fee applies after 12 consecutive months of inactivity.

Tax work runs through the same app. The free card lists real-time tax estimates. Quarterly federal tax payments from the app need Plus or Pro and a Schedule C.

Found pricing

Plans. Found's Free plan has no monthly fee. Plus costs $35 a month or $315 a year, which is 25% less on annual billing, and Pro costs $80 a month or $720 a year, also 25% less. Both paid plans start with a 30-day free trial and are charged automatically afterwards.

Prices come from Found's pricing page and the Found fee schedule, last updated July 13, 2026, both read in October 2026.

Transaction fees. Outgoing domestic wires cost $15 on Free and Plus and $10 on Pro. Paper checks cost $1 on Free and Plus and are free on Pro. Found charges $2.00 per cash deposit, 1.75% on Instant Payments sent (minimum $0.50, cap $50) and 1% on express transfers (minimum $0.50, cap $25). A dormancy fee applies after 12 consecutive months.

What a realistic month costs. Take four outgoing domestic wires and two paper checks a month, before any interest. Free costs $62 a month: $60 in wires and $2 in checks. Plus costs $97 a month on monthly billing, or $88.25 on annual billing, where the plan itself is $26.25 a month.

Pro costs $120 a month on monthly billing, or $100 a month on annual billing, where the plan is $60 and the wires are $40, because checks are free on Pro.

Where interest changes the answer. Plus pays 1.50% on balances up to $20,000, which is $25 a month at the cap. Even at that cap, annual Plus nets $63.25 a month against $62 on Free, so Plus does not pay for itself on interest in this scenario.

Pro pays 2.50% on all balances, so a $20,000 balance earns about $41.67 a month. On annual billing, Pro costs less than Free once the balance passes about $18,240, and on monthly billing the break-even is about $27,840. These figures use the APY published in October 2026, which is variable.

Methodology. Found's figures come from the two pages above.

Alternatives use their own pricing pages, read the same month: Mercury, Novo, Bluevine and Relay.

The arithmetic is shown in full, so a reader can rerun it with their own wire count and balance. This review is based on published terms, not on hands-on use of the accounts.

Found pros and cons

What we like

  • No monthly fee and no minimum balance on the free plan, with no overdraft fees, per the fee schedule.
  • Up to 20 Pockets, unlimited invoicing and real-time tax estimates are included without a subscription.
  • Plus pays 1.50% APY on a capped balance, Pro pays 2.50% APY on all balances with no cap, and checks are free on Pro.

What could be better

  • Each outgoing wire costs money on Free and Plus, so four wires a month add $60 to a plan with no monthly fee.
  • The pricing page lists no APY for the free plan, and the quarterly in-app tax payment needs a paid plan and a Schedule C.
  • Found is a financial technology company, not a bank, so deposits are FDIC-insured up to $250,000 per depositor through Lead Bank.

Who Found is for

Found fits a sole proprietor, freelancer or single-owner LLC that makes a handful of outgoing payments each month, wants tax and bookkeeping tools in the same app as the bank account, and keeps a modest balance. A few wires and checks keep the Free plan cheap, and the tax tools can take the place of a separate accounting subscription.

It is a weak fit in four cases. Businesses that send many wires pay the wire fee on every transfer, so ten wires a month on the Free plan add $150 before any plan fee. Cash-heavy businesses pay $2.00 for every deposit.

Teams that need a physical branch should choose a traditional bank. And anyone holding more than the Plus cap needs Pro to earn interest on the excess, even though Pro is the costliest plan.

Founders who want a venture-style account with treasury yield should compare Mercury and Relay.

For interest without a monthly plan fee, see Bluevine on its Standard tier, and for a free checking account with no monthly fee, see Novo.

If the business needs an accounting system more than a bank, compare Xero, which sits beside a bank account rather than replacing it. For foreign-currency payments, Wise is the page to read.

Toolradar also has tool pages for Mercury, Bluevine and Novo, for a second source on their features.

The bottom line

Found is worth opening on the free plan if you send a few wires a month and want bookkeeping and tax tools next to the account. Plus is hard to justify on interest. In the four-wire scenario it costs about $1.25 a month more than Free even at a balance at the cap on annual billing.

Pro is the one paid plan where interest can outweigh its fees, and only once the balance is above about $18,240 on annual billing.

Look elsewhere if wires matter. Mercury lists domestic wires at $0 on every plan, and Bluevine's paid tiers cut the wire fee. For a branch, use a traditional bank. FDIC coverage depends on the partner bank and the ownership category, so compare the stated limit on each page before you move cash.

Frequently asked questions

Is Found worth it in 2026?

For a freelancer or sole proprietor who makes a few outgoing wires and checks a month, the free plan is worth opening, since it includes bookkeeping and tax estimates with no monthly fee. Plus is worth paying for only if you need in-app quarterly tax payments or imports from other accounts, because its 1.50% interest earns at most $25 a month at the cap, below the monthly fee. Pro makes sense for large balances, above roughly $18,240 on annual billing in the four-wire scenario.

How much does Found cost each month?

The Free plan has no monthly fee. Plus costs $35 a month or $315 a year, and Pro costs $80 a month or $720 a year, as of October 2026. Outgoing domestic wires cost $15 each on Free and Plus and $10 on Pro, and paper checks cost $1 each on Free and Plus.

Is Found a bank, and is my money FDIC insured?

No. Found is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services are provided by Lead Bank, Member FDIC, and funds are FDIC-insured up to $250,000 per depositor for each account ownership category.

Does Found pay interest on the free plan?

The pricing page lists no APY for the Free plan. Plus pays 1.50% APY on balances up to $20,000, and Pro pays 2.50% APY on all balances with no cap. Both rates are variable and can change.

Who can open a Found account?

Found's home page lists sole proprietorships, single and multi-member LLCs, S corporations and C corporations as customers. Its account terms make the account available to US citizens or lawful permanent residents of the 50 states or DC who are at least 18.

Can I pay taxes from a Found account?

Yes, but only on the Plus or Pro plan, and only if you file a Schedule C. The free plan does not include it.
