HoneyBook vs Dubsado (2026): Which Client Management Tool Is Worth It?
HoneyBook vs Dubsado in 2026: plan prices, team seats and payment fees compared. Dubsado caps ACH at $5; HoneyBook charges 1.5%. Prices read October 2026.

Dubsado is the cheaper client management tool for most service businesses in 2026. Its Premier plan costs $525 a year with automated workflows, scheduling and three additional users included, while HoneyBook's comparable Essentials plan costs $49 a month billed yearly. HoneyBook earns the gap for owners who want polished proposals, AI help and a built-in business bank account; Dubsado wins on team cost and bank-transfer fees.

The table hides one asymmetry that drives most of this page. Dubsado prints only annual prices, so a month-to-month buyer has no published figure to compare, while HoneyBook sells both terms. The pricing page says annual billing saves two months' worth, which suggests a monthly option exists behind the signup.
How much do HoneyBook and Dubsado cost per year?
On yearly billing, HoneyBook Starter works out to $348 for twelve months, against $335 for Dubsado Starter. That $13 gap is a rounding error, so the entry decision comes down to features, not price.
The gap opens at the automation tier. HoneyBook Essentials, the first plan with automations, the scheduler and the QuickBooks Online integration, comes to $588 a year. Dubsado Premier, the first plan with automated workflows, scheduling and the bookkeeping integration, is $525. Dubsado is $63 a year cheaper for the same job description, and it adds Zapier and public proposals on that plan.
Month-to-month HoneyBook costs more: Essentials at $59 a month is $708 over a year. If you are not sure the tool will stick, HoneyBook's 60-day money-back guarantee lowers the risk of paying yearly up front, which is worth more than the monthly option for most buyers.
What do the entry plans leave out?
Both Starter plans include unlimited clients and projects, invoicing, a client portal and email templates. The difference is what each vendor holds back to push you up a tier.
HoneyBook Starter keeps proposals and contracts. You can send a proposal, collect a signature and take payment in one file, with up to 2 live lead forms. What it lacks is the scheduler, automations and the QuickBooks Online sync, which arrive on Essentials.
Dubsado Starter is barer. It includes 1 active lead capture form and no scheduling, no automated workflows, no public proposals, no Zapier and no bookkeeping integration. A photographer who books from a proposal page needs Premier from day one, so in practice the Dubsado comparison starts at Premier, not Starter.
That makes HoneyBook Starter the better buy for a solo owner who sends proposals and does not need automation yet. Dubsado Starter fits someone who mainly needs invoices and a portal. If you are still choosing a ledger to sit behind either tool, QuickBooks vs FreshBooks covers that decision.
Which is cheaper for a team?
Seats are where the two products split hardest. Dubsado includes three additional users on either plan, then bills by band: $25 a month for 4 to 10 users, $45 a month for 11 to 20 and $60 a month for 21 to 30. HoneyBook Essentials allows up to 2 team members, and anything beyond that means Premium.
Take an owner with three assistants. On Dubsado Premier the whole team fits inside the base plan price. On HoneyBook, three team members push you past Essentials to Premium, which is $1,308 a year on yearly billing. The same four-person studio pays $783 more a year on HoneyBook.
A team of eight narrows the gap without closing it. Dubsado Premier plus $300 a year for the 4 to 10 user band comes to $825. HoneyBook Premium stays at $1,308 because its team seats are unlimited, so HoneyBook only catches up for very large teams. Above 30 users, Dubsado asks you to email for a price.
What about running two businesses?
Dubsado charges $10 a month per additional brand, so Premier with a second brand costs $645 a year. HoneyBook puts multiple companies on Premium only, which makes the second business a $1,308 decision. A wedding photographer who also runs a portrait brand pays roughly half as much on Dubsado.
Payment fees: the cost most comparisons skip
Both tools let clients pay invoices online, and the processing fee can outweigh the subscription. Dubsado Payments runs on Stripe's infrastructure; HoneyBook processes payments itself.
On a card payment the two are close. A $5,000 invoice paid by card online costs $145.25 in fees on HoneyBook (2.9% + 25¢) and $145.30 on Dubsado (2.9% + $0.30). HoneyBook's tap-to-pay rate for in-person payments is lower, from 2.7% + 10¢, while Dubsado charges 4.4% plus the same 30-cent fixed fee on international cards, which matters if you bill clients abroad.
Bank transfers are where Dubsado pulls far ahead. HoneyBook charges 1.5% on ACH with no cap, so that $5,000 invoice costs $75. Dubsado charges 0.8% capped at $5, so the same invoice costs $5.
Scale that to a consultant billing twelve $5,000 invoices a year by ACH, $60,000 in total. HoneyBook takes $900 in transfer fees and Dubsado takes $60. Add Essentials or Premier and the year costs $1,488 on HoneyBook against $585 on Dubsado, a gap of $903 for a business whose clients pay by bank transfer.
Both vendors charge 1% for faster payouts: HoneyBook calls it instant deposit, pending eligibility, and Dubsado calls it instant payouts. Dubsado also lists $15 per card or ACH dispute and $4 per failed ACH transaction, fees HoneyBook's pricing page does not itemize.
If most of your clients pay by card, payments are a wash and the subscription decides. If they pay large invoices by bank transfer, ask them to keep doing it, and Dubsado's cap is worth more than any feature on either list. What HoneyBook adds for the higher price
HoneyBook is not only the more expensive option; it bundles more around the client file. Every plan includes HoneyBook AI, and the feature list names AI email drafts, a meeting notetaker, an AI automations builder and lead enrichment. Dubsado's pricing page lists no AI features.
The bigger difference is money management. HoneyBook Finance adds HoneyBook Balance, a checking account with a debit card, savings buckets that set aside a share of each payment, expense tracking, a tax hub and HoneyBook Capital, which the page describes as fixed-fee, no-interest loans pending eligibility. Dubsado's menu has a business financing page, but nothing on its pricing page matches a built-in account. If you want a separate account instead, our best business bank accounts guide compares them.
HoneyBook also offers free file setup, where its team turns your existing contracts and proposals into templates, and 24/7 email and chat support. Premium adds priority support. For the plan-by-plan detail, read our HoneyBook review.
One limit to check first: HoneyBook currently supports businesses in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia only, according to its pricing page.
Where Dubsado's lower price costs you
Dubsado's savings come with trade-offs. Its 21-day trial covers Premier, so you test the full product but have only three weeks to build your workflows before paying. The pricing page names no money-back guarantee, which makes the annual-only price a bigger commitment than HoneyBook's yearly plan.
Starter is limited enough that most buyers skip it, so the honest entry price is the Premier plan. And the user bands add up for growing teams: a ninth user sits in the same $25 band as the fourth, but crossing ten users moves you to $45 a month.
Which one to pick
Choose Dubsado if you have a team, run more than one brand, or bill large invoices by bank transfer. Premier covers workflows, scheduling and three extra users, and its capped ACH fee keeps a $60,000 year of transfers at $60.
Choose HoneyBook if you work alone, sell from proposals and want AI drafting, a business checking account and a refund window in one place. Starter at $29 a month billed yearly is the strongest entry plan of the two, and Essentials is the step up once you need automations.
If neither fits, our best invoicing software for freelancers compares cheaper invoice-first tools, the FreshBooks review covers a proposal-capable ledger, best free invoice generators lists no-cost options, and FreshBooks vs Wave covers the ledger side if what you really need is accounting.
How we checked
We read the HoneyBook pricing and payments pages, the Dubsado pricing page and the Dubsado Payments fee article on 18 October 2026, in US dollars. Annual totals multiply the printed monthly rate by twelve, and payment scenarios apply each vendor's published rate to a $5,000 invoice. Dupple has no test lab: this comparison is built from the vendors' published plans and fees, not hands-on use. Prices change often in this category, so confirm the current figures on both pages before you pay for a year.
