Doola Review 2026
What each doola plan costs a year, what it includes, and when Firstbase, Stripe Atlas or a direct state filing is the better buy.
doola is worth it for non-US founders who want the entity, the EIN and the tax filings handled by one company, and who can pay for a tax tier every year. Starter costs $297 a year plus state fees, but it stops at formation and an EIN. Tax and Compliance costs $1,999 a year and adds federal and state tax filing. Business-in-a-Box costs $2,999 a year and adds monthly statements and synced bookkeeping.
Bizee's Basic package has the lowest headline price, with no package fee and one free registered-agent year. ZenBusiness is $298 in year one for its registered agent and EIN, before state fees, and Stripe Atlas is a one-time $500 for a Delaware corporation. doola's pricing page does not say which plan includes a registered agent or Form 5472, so ask before you pay.
Key factsBest for: Non-US founders who want formation, an EIN and tax filings…
- One vendor for formation, EIN, bookkeeping and tax, with each plan naming what it covers.
- Entry plan: Starter, billed yearly, plus state fees
- Full bundle: Business-in-a-Box, billed yearly
- Form 5472 penalty: 25,000 dollars per late form
- EIN from the IRS: Free, with no fee for the number
Pros
- Starter, Tax and Compliance and Business-in-a-Box each name what they include, so a founder can match the scope to the bill.
- Business-in-a-Box covers monthly statements, synced bookkeeping and taxes, and quarterly estimates in one annual plan.
- doola's FAQ says a non-US founder needs a passport or government ID to open a Mercury account.
Cons
- The entry tier does not include tax filing, so a founder who files returns has to move up a tier.
- The pricing page does not tie a registered agent or Form 5472 to any plan, and a late Form 5472 carries an IRS penalty.
- State fees are paid through doola with no dollar figure printed, so the first-year total is not known until you pick a state.
The plan decides the answer, and the cheapest plan is not a compliance plan. A founder who buys the entry tier to save money still has to file the returns, and doola's copy ties tax filing to the tier above.
That is the trade-off this review measures, plan by plan.
doola sells US LLC and C corporation formation, then ongoing plans for bookkeeping and tax. Toolradar data: Toolradar lists doola under Finance, Accounting, Invoicing and Tax Software, beside six direct alternatives, with a tracked entry price of $24.75 a month.
That is the Starter price spread over twelve months, checked 29 September 2026. The doola listing on Toolradar has the comparison set.
Our methodology: we ranked the vendors on three criteria, the published price for the job, what the plan includes, and who it fits.
Where a vendor does not say whether a service is included, we say so rather than guess. Prices were verified on each vendor's pricing page on 12 October 2026.

What is doola?
doola is a formation and compliance company sold as four paid plans, not as one product. Starter files a US LLC or C corporation in one to two business days, and it includes an EIN and a US business address. Pulse is a separate bookkeeping plan that tracks payouts and monitors expenses automatically.
Tax and Compliance adds federal and state tax filing and a one-to-one tax consultation on top of Starter.
Business-in-a-Box adds monthly financial statements, synced bookkeeping and taxes, and estimated quarterly taxes on top of Tax and Compliance.
Each paid plan bills annually, and Starter, Tax and Compliance and Business-in-a-Box add state fees on top. doola says those fees vary by state and are paid directly to the state through doola, but its pages print no state fee figure. You will need to look up your own state's fee before you can total the first year.
How doola works
Starter is a formation order, and the timeline is short. The Starter plan says the entity is filed within one to two business days, with the EIN and a US address supplied. Pulse starts with a 30-day trial, and its page prints the $300 renewal under that trial, so set a reminder for day 30.
The page does not say whether the trial needs a card.
The bank account comes next. doola's FAQ says a founder needs a passport or government ID to open a Mercury business account, which matters if you live abroad.
Our Mercury review covers the plans, and the Mercury vs Relay comparison sets it against Relay. For other business bank options, see the business bank accounts guide.

doola pricing
The annual price is the number to budget, and state fees come on top. Starter, Pulse, Tax and Compliance and Business-in-a-Box are all billed yearly on doola's pricing page, and the page prints their annual figures in the table below.
Verified on 12 October 2026.
Compare the tiers by the job each one does. The step from Starter to Tax and Compliance is $1,702 a year for filing and a consultation. Business-in-a-Box costs $1,000 more than Tax and Compliance for monthly statements and quarterly estimates.
Those differences are our arithmetic.
For a cheaper ledger, the free accounting software guide lists tools that stay free.
Year one is the total that matters. Stripe Atlas and Firstbase sell some pieces as one-time or per-service fees, while doola bills every plan yearly, so the first and second years look different.
Firstbase charges a one-time fee for Start formation, $299 a year per state for its registered agent, and $899 a year for its tax package for a non-US-owned single-member LLC.
Together that is $1,297 in year one and $1,198 in year two, before state fees.
Bizee has the lowest formation-only price, and ZenBusiness lands almost level with Starter. ZenBusiness lists its registered agent at $199 a year and its EIN at $99 once, so year one is $298 before state fees.
Bizee lists its Basic package with no package fee, only the state fee, and one free registered-agent year, though its page does not say whether an EIN is included.
Bookkeeping is where the bundles diverge. Firstbase lists One at $2,388 a year, billed yearly, and says its accounting add-on and 2025 tax filings come with it.
The page does not itemize One, so treat $2,388 as the figure to beat, not as a verified match for Business-in-a-Box.
Firstbase's stand-alone accounting plan is $5,990 a year, and its page says that price depends on expected monthly expenses.

doola pros and cons
What we like
- Starter, Tax and Compliance and Business-in-a-Box each name what they include, so a founder can match the scope to the bill.
- Business-in-a-Box covers monthly statements, synced bookkeeping and taxes, and quarterly estimates in one annual plan.
- doola's FAQ says a non-US founder needs a passport or government ID to open a Mercury account.
What could be better
- The entry tier does not include tax filing, so a founder who files returns has to move up a tier.
- The pricing page does not tie a registered agent or Form 5472 to any plan, and a late Form 5472 carries an IRS penalty.
- State fees are paid through doola with no dollar figure printed, so the first-year total is not known until you pick a state.
Who doola is for
Buy doola when one company must form the entity, get the EIN and file the taxes, and you can pay for a tax tier every year to keep it running. That fits a founder who lives outside the US, has no US accountant and does not want to stitch together several vendors.
Business-in-a-Box is the tier for monthly statements and quarterly estimates, and Tax and Compliance is the tier when the books are simple enough for an outside accountant.
Choose Stripe Atlas when the goal is a Delaware C corporation for one up-front fee, with founder stock and an 83(b) filing included.
Its page lists no tax-filing service and no Delaware franchise tax figure, so budget those separately.
Choose Firstbase when you want to buy each service on its own, and when a Form 5472 tax package at $899 a year matters more than an all-in price.
Choose a direct state filing, or a formation-only route such as ZenBusiness or Bizee, when the only job is the LLC and a registered agent, and you already have a tax preparer.
The entry tier fits the same founder only if doola confirms in writing that its plan includes the registered agent. If you keep the books yourself, the AI bookkeeping guide covers the software.

The bottom line
doola is worth it only when you need the entity, the EIN and the tax filings from one company. Starter is a formation purchase, so pick Tax and Compliance or Business-in-a-Box if the returns matter. Before you buy Business-in-a-Box, compare Firstbase One, which costs $611 a year less on its page and names accounting and tax filings.
Stripe Atlas wins for a one-time Delaware corporation, and ZenBusiness or Bizee win when the job is only the LLC and a registered agent.
